EYAL GEVER: SUBLIME MOMENTS
If there were only one word to describe the installations of Tel-Aviv’s artist Eyal Gever, the first and only word that comes to my mind is “impact”. In his Sublime Moments exhibit one may see the impact of pressure, gravity, chemical mixing, squeezing, explosions, rapid drying/freezing, and so on. His work is the product of having served in the Israeli military as a paratrooper. However, after developing a kidney infection he was re assigned to a desk job, where he began to craft electronic simulations of explosions and catastrophes. He turned this knowledge into sculpture and art without showing the horrors behind it.
